A pathway to become permanent resident for skilled workers with Canadian Work Experience

The CEC program requisites on a fail or pass system. If candidate meet the minimum requirements, they are qualified to enter the Express Entry pool.

CEC Program Requirements:
  • Language ability – CLB 5 for NOC B and CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A occupations
  • Canadian Skilled Work Experience with authorization to work – Minimum 1 year (Full-Time or Equivalent Part-Time – 1560 hours) of skilled work experience in Canada in the last 3 years. Work experience can be in one or more eligible occupations and does not need to be continuous.

Work experience in Quebec will count; however, candidate must intent to live outside of Quebec.

Ineligible Canadian Work Experience
  • Canadian work experience without a valid work authorization
  • Self-Employment experience
  • Work while enrolled in a full-time study program (including a co-op or internship work even gained on PGWP)
  • Work while a refugee claimant in Canada

Does not require to be employed while applying and can be applied form in and outside of Canada.

There is no education requirement for the CEC program, but necessary to improve rank in the Express Entry pool.

CEC candidates do not need to prove settlement funds.
